Based in Bradford, West Yorkshire, RhythmInside was established in 2008 by David Richards BAEd MUS HONS (QTS) and provides drum kit and orchestral percussion lessons for students of all ages and abilities from beginner to advanced levels.
I am a qualified primary school teacher and work during the day as a classteacher in a specialist school for children with Communication and Language Difficulties (Autism), as part of the requiremenmts for holding a teaching post I have an up to date Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate to work with childre.
I have been teaching drumkit and tuned percussion for over 20 years and during that time I have worked as an independent teacher, a peripatetic percussion teacher in schools and as a percussion teacher with youth orchestras and brass bands.
As well as my own percussion school in Bradford I have had a weekly residency as a tutor at RAW studios in Halifax since it opened in 2008.
I have been playing drumkit and percussion for 30 years and am the drummer with the Bradford based covers band ‘The Boardroom’ and am a freelance percussionist and Kit player; as part of my freelance work I regularly perform with ‘Lofthouse 2000 Brass Band’ and ‘The Yorkshire Wind Orchestra’, and have performed in the pit for ‘The New Communities Arts Academy’ and ‘Bradfor University Society of Operettas and Musicals’ (BUSOM)
Over the course of my playing career I have had a wide range of playing experiences: orchestras, windbands, brass bands; big band jazz; musical theater; bierkellar and cabaret.
I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to study with some of the world’s top drummers and percussionists and take every opportunity to continue my own studies to find new ideas to pass on to my own students.
